About Us

Our mission is to deliver authentic hospitality that allows guests to unwind in nature while enjoying modern comfort. We are committed to creating memorable experiences through quality accommodation, thoughtful amenities, and a peaceful outdoor setting.

We believe camping therapy, and just being outdoors, fixes things nothing else can. It quiets the mind, grounds your thoughts, and somehow makes life feel manageable again. It’s a level of healing most don’t know they even need.

We look forward to welcoming you to Country Cabins & RV Park!

History

In 1998, Gary and Delphine Steuck converted an old farmstead into a beautiful campground. For over 17 years, they worked to create an atmosphere suitable to meet the demands of the outdoor enthusiasts coming to the region. With much effort and dedication, they developed 26 RV sites, brought in 9 cabins and a large bathhouse with laundry area for guest use, repurposed an old barn to be utilized for wild-game cleaning, and built a clubhouse for office/laundry needs along with a fully functional space with indoor/outdoor accessibility to service a multitude of events.

In 2014, Eugene Keller purchased the campground from Gary and Delphine, his sister. He wanted the lifestyle that comes with operating a campground near Lake Oahe. His passion for fishing and being near the river, along with the desire to continue working post-retirement, made it a perfect fit. During his operation, he brought in one more cabin and completely refinished all the other cabins. He says his favorite part of this business is the people you meet and relationships built. He wants to say, “Thank you everyone for all the fun!”

In 2025, Gene determined it was time to spend more time fishing and wanted to look for a more youthful and energized individual to take over the campground. So, he simply put a “For Sale by Owner” sign outside of the clubhouse. As fate would have it, Kimberly Olson drove by one day and noticed the sign. She contacted the phone number listed to inquire about what exactly was for sale and the fire was instantly lit when Gene said, “the entire campground.” After spending some time getting to know one another and seeing if it was a good fit for everyone, Kimberly purchased the campground in March 2026.

Kimberly grew up on a farm/ranch operation near the McLaughlin area which is about 30 miles west of Mobridge. After experiencing life away from the region for over 18 years, she returned in 2019 with a passion for entrepreneurship, outdoor recreation (especially on the water), hospitality, and a very adventurous spirit.

Kimberly says, “This is a family business. Gary, Delphine and Gene made this happen. It is a beautiful campground. I’m so blessed I am going to be able to experience life every day so close to Lake Oahe and serve others while doing it. It is such a great opportunity to provide additional amenities in the region. We'll continue to improve however possible. We look forward to providing great experiences here. Now, in its 29th season in 2026, my family gets to continue on the legacy. We look forward to showing the highest level of Midwest hospitality to all those we meet.”
